Q: What is Chalkboards by AE?
A: We create personalized design, lettering, and characters for classic chalkboards that we procure primarily from a boutique company who's owner custom makes our chalkboards to order in Phoenix, Arizona. We've also partnered with Crafty Croc Creative Art Supplies (click to check out their products!).
In house, we can make anything into a chalkboard and add customization. Would you like corn hole boards with your favorite NFL team or wine bottles with lights and holiday spirit for Christmas or a whimsical board for your 3-year-old's room? We can do this! We will ship anywhere (shipping costs vary) and we provide complimentary hand delivery within 30 miles of our office. We also offer in person work for your restaurant or store front in the surrounding area.
Q: Do you only do chalkboards?
A: The technical answer is, yes; but we can make anything into a chalkboard. We’ve done everything from doors, windows, and mirrors to wall stickers and vases to corn hole boards and ping pong tables. All of our projects are coated and finished so that they are water- and smudge-proof.
Q: Do you have a pricing list?
A: We've found that no two jobs are identical due to the majority of our work being custom and tailored to just what you want and need. If you have a question about pricing, we'd love for you to send us an idea of what you'd like us to create for you, and we'll be happy to get back to you with a quote.
We do have an Etsy Shop which carries our basic made-to-order designs. Please use the link below to be redirected. We will be adding a shop to this page in the near future.
Q: Do you have chalkboards that you loan out?
A: Currently, we do not. If you would like a chalkboard for your event, they are a great keepsake. You may also provide your own chalkboard for us to do our artwork on.
Q: How do I book you for our special event or wedding?
A: Send us an email or fill out the contact form on this site. Let us know what you’d like us to create for you and the date of the event. Please contact us no later than 4 – 5 weeks before the date of your event.
Q: How do I know if you'll deliver to me and/or do "in person" work at my restaurant or store?
A: When in doubt, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the site on our contact page. Rule of thumb: We will deliver and/or work on site as long as you are within 30 miles of Alexandria, Virginia. There are always, of course, exceptions to rules.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Currently we except COD (when delivering in person within 30 miles of our office) or Venmo. We take a 50% deposit once we agree upon the final project and the remaining 50% is expected upon delivery. If purchasing a board through Etsy, payment can be processed through that site.
